The smell of something similar to methane gas probed the normal scent of Innistrad's air of death, as the battle-worn Omnix torn the planes between Shandalar and Innistrad. He appeared before his crumbling home of Shadow Hold, once a large gothic castle now a heeping pile of stone and metal. The once respected demon lord looked at the angels handiwork of destruction and dropped to his knees with tears in his eyes. Omnix yelled as he punched the ground. "I should have killed Allindra! perhaps I would have had some kind of elation from it!", he screamed and then continued to a inside voice, "No, revenge would not have been the answer, it never is, but mercy and kindness!" Omnix's form changed from angelic, demonic, and human as he was talking to himself, the Angelic being the softer voice while the demonic being the heavy. `"Who asked you?!" screaming at nothing. "Both of you are wrong...If we can't push through the wall, we'll just make a new wall entirely...", He said as he looked at the skeleton of a demon have flowers and grass growing from it with a light shining on it.

Rather than a clocktower alert the few survivors as to the time, it was a great violet gash in the weave of the plane whose crackling, spitting energies sounded off midnight. As the world's wound sealed, it left behind a woman in a dress the colour of rainclouds, flowing at the bottom but snug toward her head.
Rot hung in the air, yet plants grew where there should have been only volcanic stone. Eve lifted a foot, paused, and hurried off toward the ruins. Consecrated ground. The angels had clearly regained their fury, and now the priestess almost missed the Eldrazi. The new moon hung somewhere overhead, not even allowing her to see the location of the angels' bane. Yes, it was better this way, but a sour frown crept across her blood-red lips.
A voice caught her ear, and though she did not smile, the frown dissolved. "Omnix?" She called into the darkness.

Omnix's ears perked as he turned his head toward her direction as the voices in head went away. Omnix's expression depressed, "I'm over here..." He said without any form of bravado, confidence, or strength. Once she was able to see him, he saw kneeling battered mess of a entity. She has never seen him like this. He could not look at her as she came up to him if she did. "...I have failed you so many times...", he sobbed, "You don't deserve a failure like me..." Omnix's face then began to feel wet, he looked around and did not see it rain but it was still getting wet. Omnix touched his cheek to feel that his eye was leaking. "What is this?..."

Her mouth opened to speak, but the cold air froze her unformed words and she pressed her lips together. With the speed of the former demon's tear, she knelt, making sure to place her knees on a slab of shattered stone rather than in the soil. A hand rested in the air over Omnix's back, floating, apprehensive.
She let it fall, feather-light, onto his back.
"Failure implies weakness. The only time I have seen you weak, my lord, is this moment. I urge you: be strong. You have lost a castle, yet you retain what separates you from the human fool that finds himself completely broken over the loss of a trinket material: power. You slew Saint Traft; you have slain angels and demons...and slivers. You were trapped in a fragile form, but wrested yourself free. You have traveled between worlds with but a thought. I urge you: be resolute, be versatile. Recall that you built Shadowhold. It is not outside your capabilities, even now, to build something even greater. Serra of Dominaria, though a foul woman, saw things she deemed unpleasant and sought to create a haven without them. She failed not because she was weak, but because she tried to do it alone. You are far more fortunate in that regard."
Eve smiled and stood, a thin fang exposed. "Be strong."

Omnix wiped his eyes with his hand before looking to her. His shoulders becoming erect again as he heard her advice and looked to her and put his unwettened hand on her shoulder. "Are not just saying this because of the mark I placed on your hands all those years ago?... my mark of loyalty? or is this...real? Are these emotions against your will?" Omnix then took her left hand and said a small word of magic to reveal his mark, but to his surprise, there would be no mark. His expression was shocking as he looked into her eyes. "I...I don't understand, their's hardly any form of creature who can get rid of a demon's mark." He looked to her with face of pure confusion as he grip her hand with slight tension.

He hardly had to take her hand to see the absence of the mark, for she thrust it out before her. Her skin had as many aberrations as a fresh snow.
"Yet it is gone, my lord, and I speak the truth," came the reply, not directly answering the question. Her hand slowly closed around his. "Now is not the time for confusion, if I may say so. The resurging angelic forces have quite clearly shown that their brashness has returned as well. You must make a tactical retreat, not to lick wounds, but to gather strength, to recruit allies. There will be a new Shadowhold. This defeat only masks the truth that our victory is imminent." Eve let her gaze drift out over the rubble, focusing on a point just beyond the horizon.

Now, very sceptical, Omnix looked at her with a look of curiosity, but also cation. "How did you remove my Father's mark, Eve?" For once Omnix was broken of Eve's charm. He kept a continuous grip on her hand as his mind was full of confusion and paranoia, he then began to speak. "What were you going to do? What were your plans?" His eyes focused on her judgmentally. "Did you plan on to kill me while I was at my weakest?!" his voice elevated, something Eve is not accustomed too. However she is quite aware of Withengar's extreme paranoia. He huffed and huffed after dark mana surrounded his form. Omnix eye's softened as did his grip, eventually letting go before speaking again. "I'm...I'm sorry Eve."

Eve stepped back, her lips parted just a little.
In her mind, she struck herself across the face. After spending twenty years learning about and training in aspects of social interaction, she had let deeper emotions take control of her body language. Now it showed fear, surprise. That was not what she wanted to convey.
Clasping her lithe hands before her, she spoke, her voice quiet, frank. "Vrinin removed it from me," she admitted, the truth tasting strange in her mouth. "I had no plans to assassinate you; I merely desired freedom, and thought you would take it as a sign of hostility had I requested it. Please, if there’s anything I can do to allow you to trust me…" Perhaps the words she had chosen were too direct, but at least she was in control of them.

He listened intently as the mana around begin to disperse. "I see...If what you say is the truth, and I do believe you, then hear's how you can show me your trust..."
"Recall back your church, before we left to Shandalaar even...I expressed to you a great deal of emotion, but we were cut short by the apparent emergency... Now it's your turn Eve, please tell me how you feel...about us, and I would hope what just happened wouldn't have influenced it in anyway, but I understand if it did." He said as held her clasped hand delicately this time, gazing into her purple amethyst like eyes with his fiery orange ones. He kept the eye contact locked with eachother.

She opened her mouth to speak, but as he took her hands, she found that she had no words. Nothing in her reading had prepared her for anything like this. Was it pride that flooded her mind as she stood before him? Empathy? Humans so poorly described emotions. This was different. It was a smooth blend of hunger and a serenity that reached into her very core. It was a bolt of lightning that perpetually struck in the depths of her chest.
"When you came to my church, not this time, but the very first time, you were...abrasive. Pompous. In the back of my mind, I knew that I would get what I wanted from our deal and subsequently leave. One would be foolish to believe that anyone, especially you, could be the same person after the battle on the mountain, after your capture on Tarkir, the journey to Havengul.
"I…" Humans had a certain three-word expression, but she had never used it before, and its exact words escaped her now. "I think you have grown, we have both grown, into people who would greatly enjoy their time together." From her calm demeanor emerged a genuine smile.

Omnix raised his hand slowly and gently to Eve's cheek and caressed it with an ease unknown to Eve. He continued their gaze and then gently pushed his lips into her's giving her a kiss filled with immense passion. He then wrapped her arms around her shoulders with a loving embrace, she could feel the pounding of his heart against her chest. Omnix held this position for a seemingly everlasting minute. He retreated sligtly and looked into her eyes again with a full smile across his face. His breaths were heavy, but not overwhelming as he caressed her cheek once more before speaking, "I love you too Eve." His smile continued as he gave her another passionate kiss to his lover.

Yes, that was the word.
It had also escaped her the day before on Shandalar, even though love was exactly what she felt. Of course, at that time she was trying to save Omnix, Vrinin, and her church, so she had put no effort into verbalising the sensation, not even internally. But...yes. That was it.
"Come with me to my church on this world, my lord," she exhorted, pulling him gently by the hand to turn his eyes away from the desolation that was once his fortress. The sight scraped against the mind of even Eve to see it in ruin, so she carefully placed herself such that Omnix stood right between her and the rubble. There -- that was a better sight a million times over. "There is no congregation, at least for now, not after the Eldrazi. We can stay there, recover, plan for the next move. What say you?"
Before he could answer, an almost giddy joy overtook Eve, and she embraced him again.

When the view of his former castle was obstructed it was like it never even happened to him. Of course this is not true, but that was the feeling.
"I couldn't have thought of anything that would make me happier." He said after being embraced by Eve, "How shall we travel?" He then went beside her, holding her hand with a firm tightness. The feelings going through Omnix are all new to him as much as it was to Eve. But most importantly he felt a feeling of relief, for so long he had loved Eve, but because of that accursed mark, he would not have known if the feelings were real or not. I suppose Omnix should thank Vrinin in a way, but he won't say that to his face.

Eve tugged on Omnix’s hand, gesturing for him to come along. There resided now within her a vitality the pseudo-demon had seen few times before. Usually it was present after she held a congregation, though he had not seen it after every time. It was certainly curious how preaching seemed to fill her with life. What had called her to that passion?
"This path will take us across a mountain pass before descending onto the heath near the village of Videns. I have traveled this road several times; it is a journey of many days, if taken on foot…" The priestess’s eyes strayed to the corner of her vision for a moment before snapping back. "Do you still have that spell memorised which conjures a steed made of roiling darkness? If we could have swift mounts, the journey would take no more than a day. And if they have the power of flight, it would be an even shorter ride, for we could cut directly across the mountains. I do so despise attempting to navigate such treacherous paths and moraines."

"Of course", he responded as he released his hand from hers and spindled his fingers with the remaining dark magic in his disposal to summon the steed of darkness. The Nightmare trotted over to Omnix and bowed it's head, revealing the symbol of Withengar as well, Omnix quickly mounted the Nightmare and held his hand out to Eve. Assuming she took his hand, he lifted her swiftly onto horse in front of him, his arms went around her to grab the steering rope.
With a quick whip of the rope the dark horse and them took off in the direction of her church. The cold air of Innistrad was freezing at worst and refreshing at best, considering about the former events, Omnix didn't care.
