A Note on Word Count

Recently we introduced a Word Count plugin which established a minimum number of words that posts in certain boards were allowed to have. All posts made from the date of installation of the plugin, therefore, were meant to be composed of at least 100 (EDIT: the value is now 100, it previously was 120) words.
This tool was implemented to help ensure that each post made is of a relatively high quality. Shorter roleplay posts tend to make the next poster strain to create a response to what was written, because that poster has less material to which to respond. Additionally, terser posts are, in general, less enjoyable to read. It's disappointing to read a novel only to have it end after 50 pages -- I hope that's a good analogy.
I'm not trying to say that all short posts are of low quality -- in fact, sometimes it just makes more sense with respect to a story's plot for a post to be brief. But I believe that, for the overwhelming majority of the time, more can be added to a short post...just enough to both make it nice to read and meet that 100-or-so-word limit.
I realised recently that plugins don't function when a user is on the mobile version of the site. This fact allows for a user to make a post of fewer words than the Word Count defines as the minimum. For the reasons stated above, let it be known that even if a user is posting a roleplay post (not any other sort, such as one about rules or another OOC post), even from the site's mobile view, the Word Count of the post must still be at least the minimum defined by the plugin.
If you have any questions or require an exception, then, as always, you may contact a member of our staff and we'll be happy to listen to your concerns.
