Character name:Gaige Ennoria, though sometimes she goes by Lark.
Plane of birth:Esper
Age:~27, but no one knows for sure.
Gender:Female
Race:Human
Physical attributes: She's the one on the right The other in the picture is her "enforcer".
Gaige stands at about 5'6", perhaps a bit taller than average. Her weight is currently unknown, though it can be estimated around 140 pounds, perhaps slightly less due to the augmentations she has in both arms. Both of her arms up to the shoulder have been replaced by etherium, as have her legs. The augmentations are far from the swirling and curling artwork seen on the windwright mages, though, as her augmentations have been salvaged from scrap. Hers are perhaps more efficient though, as she has added bits of technology from other planes. The etherium she has in place of her legs simply resemble normal legs, though there are two holes near the ankles which allow her to absorb some impacts. It is evident that her arms were her first attempt at augmentation, as they are perhaps slightly more crude. Despite this, she often wears long sleeves and long pants, so for all intents and purposes, the layman sees her as normal. Of course, to touch her is to feel the metal. Her hair is dark and slightly wild, and her clothes are more neutrally colored. Her eyes are a pale grey, almost appearing to be washed out of all pigmentation. Her face is often smeared with oil and soot of varying degrees, due to her nature as a salvager.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral -- Perhaps a strange alignment for an organized plane, but Gaige exists slightly outside of the normal jurisdiction of Esper. She believes the sphinxes to be an oppressive force that must be dealt with. Above all, Gaige believes in the freedom of information and, perhaps most importantly, in the freedom of thought.
"If there's one thing I absolutely can't stand, it's the censorship on this plane."
Predominant mana colour(s): White/Blue/Black/Red
Specialties: Artificer
Biography:
"They don't want us to think anymore."
Gaige was born to a smuggler and a rogue, in the rather unsavory underground portion of the plane of Esper. Her mother was caught by the sphinxes when Gaige was still very young, and she was never seen again. It's still unknown whether she survived in any form. For a long time, Gaige lived with her father, making a living off the little things she had a strange skill in making. The small home that they had made from ancient abandoned artifacts was far from luxurious, but it was comfortable, and her little contraptions protected them.
They fell into routine. Sometimes, there were small raids led by the sphinxes, but never anything major. There were slight repair jobs, and she was often called to deal with them. One night, her father was called away, for a raid of some kind, a supply raid. His went off without a hitch. However, while he was away with several others, the sphinxes led a massive raid on the small contingent of "rebels." The camp was almost completely razed, and many lost their lives at the hand of the vengeful and jealous sphinxes. Knowledge on Esper is a commodity, and the sphinxes believe they have full control of all of it.
Among those that tried to fight was Gaige. For a long while, she had held bottled up anger towards the sphinxes. Her anger nearly blinded her as she watched them lead the attacks. Using her skills as an artificer, she fought back, until she was among the last ones left. The sphinxes ordered them to bow, to submit. One by one, the rebels did. All except Gaige. She remained standing, her eyes determined. She knew that to do this invited death, but she would die fighting, not on her knees.
One of the sphinxes came towards her, and raised a massive hand, its talons like steel. She did not shut her eyes, and as the talons came down onto her, she felt them rake along her and pierce into her, but saw the sphinx vanish, even as blood burst from wounds that healed in a blink. Now, she found herself in a swirling mass of energy, with magic arcing along her homemade augmentations.
For some years, she simply studied the phenomena. Then, she found a home on the Ravnican cityscape, in the Izzet district.
(Purposely keeping her a big vague. Got a couple super secret sneaky ideas.)
