Somewhere, in the dense forest, a scream was heard.
The scream echoed out across the dark swamps of Shadowmoor. It lasted for too long, long enough that even the simpleminded giants and the brainless zombies began to internally inquire about its source. It sounded as if someone, or something, was enduring a pain worse than death.
Someone, however, was happy to hear the noise. About a half-kilometre into Shadowmoor, a man grinned a sadistic grin that should only be worn by the evilest of the evil. This was fitting, though. Tibalt was evil.
He let out a long, cackling laugh. Though not as long-lasting nor as loud as the scream, it was a terrifying sound, something akin to souls being incinerated.
In fact, that was exactly what was happening. Always a scientist, Tibalt jotted a few notes in a small, kithkin-skin-bound notebook before striding over to examine his victim. He was short for an elf, but his long horns concealed that fact nicely. Tibalt prodded him and checked inside his mouth for any regurgitation, before burning open the elf's skull to check his brain for burn marks. Putting down a few more notes, Tibalt poured back over them to see if he could find what went awry with his Perpetual Death spell.
A small cluster of trees along the border withered and died, and a stream of muck flowed from a neighboring swamp into the area where their stumps had been.

There was another being that heard the scream, but he was not native to either plane. "Scream lasted for over ninety rels! This phenomenon warrants investigation!" came the electronic-sounding voice. Tibalt heard a mechanical sound, and a... thing emerged from the bushes. It stared at the demonic humanoid for a few moments, before speaking. With every syllable, the lights on either side of its 'head' flashed. "Identify yourself!"

"Heh, heh, heh. How about you identify yourself!"
Tibalt's eyes caught fire.
What's a Rel?, he thought to himself.
OOC: I DO know what a Rel is.

"You identify first!"
[Deja vu.]

"ME? Identify first?" He cackled. "Why, thank you very much! I've never, ever in my entire life, which has lasted quite a while by the way, had someone ask me to identify myself before they do! It's quite the honor, my dear Sir. I believe that sometime in the future, I may owe you a favor. After all, you are a fine example of a very kind...er...gentleman, and I believe that that kind of generosity should not ever go unrewarded!"Tibalt grinned; this creature seemed fazed. Something moaned, but the sound was far off in the distance.

Thanatos was indeed fazed. Specimen shows evidence of abnormal mental processes and also radiation resembling that of the 'planeswalker's spark' phenomenon.
This creature's wit could prove useful. Now, he must merely present to it the glory of perfection that Phyrexia has to offer, and the Grand Evolution can continue.
"If you will not identify yourself, then I must do so for you. Deploying nanobots!" A cloud resembling a swarm of insects flowed out from the silvery-thing the creature had in place of an arm. It engulfed Tibalt, and he felt them nipping at him, while a few seemed to burrow into his skin.

Specimen refers to himself as Tibalt, and is of both demonic and human descent. No other intelligible information received: specimen is insane.
"Tibalt, I am Thanatos, the Lord of Machines."
[Phyrexia is always gaining new abilities. They tend to do that.]

"Thanatos. Tha-na-toes. TOES! YOU DON'T HAVE ANY TOES!" Tibalt's face strained itself. "All you've got are silly little insects. Insects. I could squash YOU like an insect if I wanted to. I could cut your shell open and feast on the delicious insides. Just like that giant insect that I met last week..."
The moaning continued, but it did not seem to be getting any closer to the pair.

Then again, maybe this insanity would prove detrimental to his goals. Perhaps this 'Tibalt' should be exterminated.
His boast was irritating though.
"My armor is composed of Dalekanium. It is virtually indestructible!"

"Virtually indestructible. Virtually. The only thing that I haven't been able to destroy is Darksteel…do you happen to like destroying things, by any chance? I, in case it had not occurred to you earlier, am a master in the art of destruction. I bet I could help your little insect swarm out a bit. Make it a little more painful. Would you like that, Sir?"

Specimen warrants experimentation.
"Tibalt, would you like to see a very destructive place?"

"I've seen many dangerous places in my life, Sir. Does this happen to be somewhere new? Exciting? Fantasitc?"
Tibalt narrowed his eyes. "I hate you. This place sounds good!"

"Come with me then. I'll show you the way. It's called Phyrexia Prime." The Dalek rotated 360 degrees and a beam shot out of its silvery-thing. The beam formed a portal in the air.

"Why should I come with you? I've heard that Phyrexia Prime is a scary place. What if I want my mother? What if I faint of fright?" He looked at the Dalek with an obviously fabricated childish expression.
"I might prefer to stay here in my nice, cozy home, for all you know. Just minding my own business, conducting experiments, you know?" Suddenly, he burst out laughing, a loud, screeching sound that disturbed the ravens around him. "Heh, sorry. I just realized that you look like a saltshaker!" He continued laughing until tears formed in his eyes.

"You seem to be a reckless, violent, and curious creature. Why not explore?"

"I'm not an explorer. I'm a pain mage. And if you--if you have the NERVE to demand that I see this place....then I guess I'll go!
"On one condition: I'll only be there for half an hour. I've got work to do here, you see...never mind, you don't have eyes.
"But enough chat, let's advance!"
