Planeswalkers.
Could it be? The very heroes she had read about in that bedtime story?
"Planeswalkers?" she said aloud. "Like, the world-travelers? I've heard about them from that Selesnyan elf I spied on once..."

He chose his words carefully. "Yes, I've...met a few. They tend to come and go as they please, and they can be extremely violent and secretive. They're powerful mages and great warriors, and nothing I've seen can stop them for good. If you get a hold of one, they might be able to break the guilds' influence on you. You could live a new life."
Rane Scarper looked up from the spy of the street to the armed woman standing quietly beside them. He made a slight motion with his head, pointing the lady out.
"Do you happen to know her?"

"No," she replied simply, digesting this new information.

He turned to the woman waiting patiently behind them. "That Dimir agent invaded my...house. You don't know her. She doesn't know you. So why are you helping her?

Elise cocked an eyebrow.
"I don't expect you to, but do you know of a place called Pandora? It's a hostile place, but one that offers untold riches. A man known as Handsome Jack decided to exploit it, and his company of Hyperion helped him. Look, my reasons are my own, hm?"
She had cut herself off quickly, as the voice from her headset started talking once more. Now, instead of the gentle female voice, it was a male voice, almost taunting.
'Now, now, Elise, come on, you can't go telling all our secrets to some random bandit on the street. Hurry up and kill him, will ya? Use those pretty little guns you got there, and bring that other chick back to Pandora with ya too.'
The Siren sighed. Of course he would say that. Pretty girls were the only people he had time for, and her hand strayed to the pistol at her hip. One well placed bullet. . . Yet, this man seemed to know something. To hell with it, Jack could wait.
"Long story short, I'm a sucker."
Her hand lingered on her pistol, but she did not draw it. She was curious.

"Pandora...I don't think that I have heard of that place." The mage glanced curiously at the weapons hung from her waist and back, and at the odd apparatus mounted on her head.
"If you're so helpful, then, do you mind telling me what those items are? I've never seen anything like them, and I've...been around."
Rane returned his gaze to rest on the Dimir infiltrator, still on the ground.
"Don't move, I'm not done with you yet."

Elise laughed thinly, tugging her pistol from its holster.
"You've never seen guns? They're a pretty nasty invention. This one's for most close range stuff, and pretty useless for anything else. The one on my back is a Hyperion sniper rifle, beautiful piece of work it is. Takes out damn near anything I point it at."
She tucked the pistol back and chuckled. "The other one, the shorter one, is a sub-machine gun. Great for hordes. As for Pandora. . . I don't recommend visiting unless you're damn proficient with weaponry or you're a god with surviving. It's a fairly deadly place."
Her hand went to the eyepiece and chuckled. "And this is how I communicate with my boss. But he's not a real conversation piece."
'Aw, Elise, you're breakin' my heart, sweetie,' came his voice into her ear, and she had to stifle a smile.

"Like the Izzet automatic crossbow? I've seen those, they're cool.
"So, you're communicating with your boss, then? So you must be on some sort of mission. You are here for something. What is it, then?"

"You could say they're somewhat like those. Except much, much, much deadlier. And heavier too."
She unslung the sniper rifle, and shrugged. It wasn't a mission per se, but he had sent her out once he realized what had happened to her. He was curious as to what had happened. . .
"It's nothing, really. This place doesn't have what I'm looking for. Though. . ."
The eyepiece flickered over the Dimir agent on the ground. 'Interesting. Elise, this is another unknown quantity, right? . . . Curious. She seems to have the same sort of power you do. Be careful, alright?' the female voice said softly into her ear.

'Elise, I'd recommend getting her. Get her out of there, and see what she can tell you. She could be what we're looking for.'
"I may be wrong. Maybe this place does have what I'm looking for. How about this. I'll take this. . . Err. . . What did you call her? Dimir agent?. . . and we'll forget we ever saw one another. Fair?"
The Siren tilted her head. If he refused, she had a surefire way out that didn't need bloodshed. Then again, who said she didn't need bloodshed?

"Oh, no. I can let you have her in a bit. If you are going to capture at all, you'll have to wait."

'Elise, don't do i-'
The Siren switched off the communicator and sighed. Maybe this could still work out. But if it didn't. . .
"Exactly why do you need her? I'm just. . . Curious."

Rane sighed.
"So you don't know of the Dimir?
"She broke into an...operation that I was conducting. Dimir agents compose a network of vile and nefarious spies, and they'll stop at nothing to rip every bit of information they can from everything they can. I need to question her about...what she saw. If you give me...say...an hour, I can hand her over."

Brushing her hair back, she weighed the options. On the one hand, she could Phaseglimpse herself invisible, throw that cloak back onto the agent, and run, but the odds of that working were slim. She could also shoot him, but that would get messy and annoying and she didn't feel like dealing with that. She relented.
"Fine, fine, fine. An hour?" she asked, weighing time quickly. That probably gave her time enough to see what there was to see on the planet. . .
